the people’s supermarket | UK London

Let me tell you of The People’s Supermarket / Supermarket of the people who at first glance may seem almost a slogan communist but in reality is a space and an innovative form of grocery shopping.

Where is?

London UK

District of Holborn

brainchild of Sir Arthur Potts Dawson, from chief of the FifteenRestaurant Jamie Oliver.

The very simple idea thought a supermarket For the people, by the people / for people and made by people. Almost like a spot of creative, but it's really the way it works. The mechanism is very simple, it is a cooperative to which you can join by paying a share of corporate 25 pounds a year and 4 weekly working hours in exchange for a discount 10% spending. Even non-members can make purchases in the "supermarket of the people".

So the mission of TPM narrates: “our vision is to create a sustainable business, social enterprise that achieves its growth objectives and, while operating at amounts based community development and cohesion. Our aim is to offer an alternative network to buy food, connecting an urban community with the local farming.”

This possibility is adding a further People’s Kitchen where members / team of the people's supermarket cook food near maturity that are served in exchange for 'pay what you want'. , The cuisine also celebrates people's power.

At this point I just have a few comments on the choice of the non-random color yellow (for rights) and the desire to become a partner, but for this I should move there. I'm going to see him next month when I'm in London.
